reuse- bag it

I try to carry my tote bags to the store as much as I can, but not always do I have one with me. So I cant say that I am 100% with not getting grochery bags from the store. If I dont have my tote bags I try and use the least amount of bags as possible. So I saw this article in

You’ve gotta love a retail industry that rises to the challenge of global warming. Lately stores have been anointing their customers (and themselves) with eco-ointment in the form of reusable cloth bags. Trader Joe hipsters carry them, and please don’t shop for chevre and marcona almonds at Whole Foods without one of its signature green bags.  (Incidentally, haven’t we always had tote bags? And weren’t they often free? Maybe we should simply rebrand them with a Sharpie and the words “I’m Greener Than Thou.”)

The right cloth bag tells the world a little bit about you, from your carbon footprint to your affiliation with other tasteful consumers. Witness green number (below) on display recently at an Anthropologie store in Manhattan. (I don’t see it at the chain’s website, although I did find a $28 “Green Is Good” version.)

Well, I can top a feel-good bag from a feel-rich chain. While walking around upper Manhattan last week, I spied a reusable bag (above) artfully deposited with the outgoing trash in front of a certain store on Madison Avenue. I snapped it up and am pleased to report that every time I carry it I get lots of approving smiles from passersby who clearly admire my eco spirit. Vive l’ecologie. written by Deborah Baldwin

This story did have a good point I thought.

I am pooped. My friend Ronnie has been in town this week since Monday night and we have been living it up all week, so I am sleepy. We have danced, gone swimming, looked for her a place to live, watched LA INK, ran around this lovely town. We saw DJ Ray Ray and some guy called DJ Milk and Cookies which is such a funny name.Tonight I am taking a night off and laying low at home. It was fun fun fun!Look at this cool new Action Figure. Duff  from Ace of Cakes has his own little Figure. I love this show so I was jazzed when I saw this. He makes the coolest cakes.

In other news Ryan Adams is writing a book  I am excited about this and he is on tour and will be here in October. So many good shows coming to town. My friend Dave said our Magnetic Fields Tickets came in the mail whohoo!

well well Happy Birthday

Today August 25th and Icon turns 41. Or in my world he is an Icon. Jeff Tweedy the leadsinger for the wonderful Band Wilco and once upon a time Uncle Tupelo. I have seen Wilco 4 times and they always seem to amaze me each time I see them play this is one band I don’t ever suspect I shall grow tired of. Each time I have seen them play is as exciting as the first time I saw them play. Happy Birthday Jeff Tweedy! May your talent continue to bring joy to all of us.

stupid shoes

So today is the 2nd day I have went to look for some new shows for wk. So far nothing. All the dress ones that I like hurt my feet. The ones I wear the most are stinky so its time to give up on them and they are slowly starting to fall apart. So looks like I may have to dig in  my closet and pick another pair until I can find what Im looking for.  On a good note my friend Ronnie is moving here the first of September Im all sorts of Jazzed. Oh and Orbits Gum is making Pomegranate Gum it’s good but the taste fades quickly.

lucky for me

This lovley owl was bought for me by one of my Best Friends Jessica. Isn’t it glorious. What a pal she is it weighs alot and it’s in my house now looking lovely as ever.

Wilco Eyeing Spring ’09 For New Album

Wilco hopes to have its seventh studio album out by spring 2009, frontman Jeff Tweedy told Albany, N.Y., radio station WAMC recently.

After opting for a highly performance-oriented recording approach on 2007’s “Sky Blue Sky,” Tweedy says he expects Wilco will “allow ourselves a little bit more leeway in terms of sculpting the sound in the studio and doing overdubs and using the studio as another instrument. Last time around, it was more of a document.”

At recent live shows, Wilco has played two new songs: “One Wing” recalls the melancholy, slowly building “Sky Blue Sky” closer “On and On and On,” while “Sunny Feeling” has a sly main riff in keeping with loose jams from the last album such as “Walken.”

Tweedy told WAMC he’s going through a phase where he “kinda hate[s]” all of Wilco’s six prior albums, because “none of them are a statement that I would be comfortable making right now at this point in my life. They all served their purpose, and in that respect I’m proud of all of them.

“But as something that feels artistically in keeping with who I am today, I think that they are inevitably going to fall short of that as time goes on. I mean, they just don’t continue to mean the same things to me, and a new record is kind of where it’s at.”

Prior to the release of “Sky Blue Sky,” Tweedy told Billboard that a number of unfinished songs from those sessions would potentially form the basis for the next album, but it is unknown if they remain in consideration at this point.
